Along with two other unidentified individuals, Catholic priest Reverend Fr. Livinus Maurice of St. Patrick’s Catholic, Isokpo in Ikwerre Local Government Area, Rivers state, was kidnapped by gunmen while they were making their way back from a hospital visitation along Elele-Isiokpo route.
On Wednesday, February 12, 2025, the incident occurred, according to a statement made by the Catholic Diocese of Port Harcourt on behalf of the bishop by the Chancellor, Reverend Father Bernadine Anaele.
SP Grace Iringe-Koko, the public relations officer for the Rivers State Police Command, confirmed the incident.
To make sure the priest and the other two people are rescued unharmed, and the suspects are taken into custody, he said, the Command has stretched its dragnet.
