APC Elders, Oyetola, Basiru plan for 2026 Osun Guber Election

Adegboyega Oyetola, the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Senator Ajibola Basiru, the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the party’s Elders Caucus started planning for the 2026 Osun State Governor election on Saturday.

Approximately thirty party elders attended the meeting, including former Speaker Timothy Owoeye, Senator Basiru, former Federal Lawmaker Isreal Famurewa, former Deputy Governor Sooko Adeleke Adewoyin, Adejare Bello, Wale Afolabi, and Chief Shuiab Oyedokun.

At the Boripe Local Government Area headquarters in Iragbiji Town, the rural home of Oyetola, Chief Sola Akinwumi, the Chairman of the Elders Caucus, presided over the two-hour-long meeting.

“We are here to hold a meeting of our party, and we resolved that we stand solidly behind our party chairman and give our full support and confidence to Adegboyega Oyetola for leading the party right, Akinwumi told reporters shortly after the meeting.

“Also, we are in full gear in preparation for the 2026 guber election. The judgment that we just got, we are going to implement it, we are law-abiding people, we will keep to what the law says strictly.

“We are coming back with full force in 2026 and we are taking our councils back by the judgment of the Appeal Court.”
