Many dead as truck run into residential market area in Anambra

Over 20 people were reported to have lost there lives at Nnewi North Local Government Area (LGA), Anambra state as an unidentified truck loaded with cements lost control and run into a residential area.

The incident occurred on Friday around 2pm along a police area command, which claimed the lives of the driver, two police officers, two children, and a nursing mother and some yet to dentify persons.

One eyewitness, Mr Sunday Alor, said that the incident may have occure due to a break failure from the truck, before the police area command and diverted into a market place and a family houses along the road, killing some residents and some traders at their homes.

The Anambra State Police Command and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) were yet to respond to Inquiry on cause of the incident and the number of victims affected from the incident.

The Anambra Federal Road Safety Corps, spokeperson Margaret Onabe, who later confirmed the incident to press on saturday said the crash was recorded late on Friday and promised to reach out to the FRSC personnel for more detail on the incident.
