Welsh middleweight Kyran Jones has had to make the difficult decision to withdraw from his eagerly awaited Celtic title fight, initially scheduled for Saturday, 1 March.

The 27-year-old from Newport was set to face Scottish fighter Paul Kean for the vacant Celtic middleweight title at the Vale Arena in Cardiff—a matchup many looked forward to. In a heartfelt announcement on Instagram, Jones shared how an injury had significantly impacted his training, leading him to postpone the bout.

“Unfortunately, a decision has been made to postpone my Celtic title fight,” Jones expressed. “Injuries have forced me out of the gym, meaning I haven’t been able to prepare to my usual standard.”

His most recent victory in November 2024—a win against Italian fighter Elliot Eboigbe—showed how skilled and passionate he is about the sport. Jones has reassured fans that a new date for the fight will be announced “very soon.”

This unexpected turn of events comes as a disappointment not only for Jones but also for the Welsh boxing community, which was eager to support him. Despite this setback, he remains optimistic about a swift recovery and looks forward to returning to the ring in the near future. Fans are rallying behind him during this short time.
