The accused was given bail of N1 million and two sureties in the same amount by Chief Magistrate R.A. Olumilua. A level 14 officer in the state civil service is required of the sureties. The other surety needs to be a respected chief or a member of the clergy. Each surety is required to provide the court with a N500,000 deposit

A Chief Magistrate Court has charged two accused, Lekan Osansan and Olubodun Oladimeji, with three counts of kidnapping police officer Michael Aromeh at Akure’s NTA intersection.

Police prosecutor Martins Olowofeso claims that the suspects abducted the uniformed police officer and then transported him to an unidentified location.

The counts reads: That you, Lekan Osansan ‘M’ and Olubodun Oladimeji ‘M,’ on the 12th day of January in the Akure Magisterial District, did conspire together to commit a felony, to wit, the kidnapping of Inspector Aromeh Michael in the uniform from the NTA junction to an unknown destination, and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 516 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 37, Vol. Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.

“That you, Lekan Osansan ‘M’ and Olubodun Oladimeji, on the same date, time, and place in the aforementioned magisterial district, did kidnap Inspector Aromeh Michael to an unknown destination and were rescued by Asp. Yahaya Ondeku and five others and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 364 of the Criminal Code Cap. 37 Vol. [1] Laws of Ondo State, Nigeria, 2006.

“That you, Lekan Osansan ‘M’ and Olubodun Oladimeji, on the same date, time, and place in the aforementioned magisterial district did conduct yourself in a manner likely to cause the breach of peace by kidnapping Inspector Aromeh Michael to an unknown destination without his consent and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 249 (D) of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Volume [1] Laws of Ondo State Nigeria 2006.”

In response to the allegations brought against them, the defendants entered a not guilty plea. The police prosecutor requested that the suspect be granted bail with strict requirements.

The case hearing was scheduled for March 5 by the court.
