The statement reads, “In celebration of World Radio Day 2025, the vice president of RATTAWU Southwest, Comrade Dare Durosimi (Founder of the Dare Durosimi Initiative – DDi), participated in a live Zoom program organized by the Lagos State Council of RATTAWU. The event, themed “Radio and Climate Change,” took place earlier today between 10am and 12pm.

“Comrade Dare Durosimi delivered a keynote paper at the 2025 World Radio Day Forum hosted by the Lagos State Council of RATTAWU. In his speech, he urged the Federal Government to subsidize radio stations in Nigeria by restructuring radio license fees collected by local governments. According to him, such a move would enable radio stations to fulfill their primary duty of delivering credible information, including critical coverage of climate change-related issues.

“As part of the day’s activities, the February 2025 edition of the DDi Health & Medical Check-Up was held, alongside the distribution of palliative support to comrade members and participants. The outreach took place at the Radio Lagos RATTAWU Secretariat, Alausa Ikeja, Lagos.

“The event culminated in a special recognition and cash donation from DDi in honor of Comrade Akindoyin Bolu of NAN, who was celebrated for his retirement from active service.

“More than 100 RATTAWU and non-RATTAWU members benefited from the initiative, sharing positive testimonials about their experience. DDi remains committed to prioritizing the well-being of RATTAWU members and will continue to provide essential support through this initiative.
