Augustine, a 42-year-old Nigerian, has been taken into custody on suspicion of killing his 48-year-old Spanish wife, Catalina, in Benalmádena, a town in the Costa del Sol region of Spain.

On Sunday, February 9, 2025, the incident occurred at approximately 5:25 a.m. The victim occupied the ground floor, and her mother lived on the top floor. The victim resided with the couple’s three children, all of whom were minors, as well as another son from a prior relationship, when Augustine also set fire to the family house.

Without specifying that the property was or had been his home, the man who was arrested was the one who initially called the 112 Andalucía emergency service system to report a fire at a residence in Benalmádena Pueblo.

The children were rescued by a local police patrol that promptly arrived on the site.

After putting out the fire, the officers discovered the victim inside the house, showing evidence of violence, and detained her partner, who they believe was the cause of her death.

She and the alleged murderer had recently split up, according to sources.

It was also stated that he had abused the kids. Having been together for almost 13 years, they had three children: two younger sisters and the eldest, who was around 11.
