The Nigeria Police Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi has emphasized that cheating is a serious offense under Nigerian law, punishable by law.

Referring to Section 421 of the Criminal Code Act, Adejobi posted on his X account that anyone using deceitful means to obtain stolen goods or induce others to deliver money or goods under false pretenses is guilty of a misdemeanor, liable to imprisonment for two years.

Adejobi further clarified that police don’t always need a warrant for arrests in such cases.

“Note that police don’t require warrants for all arrests. This is one instance where warrants aren’t necessary, and there are more cases like this,” he stated.

Cheating refers to the act of deceiving or misleading someone, often to gain an unfair advantage or benefit.

This can involve dishonest or unethical behavior, such as:- Misrepresenting information or facts- Breaking rules or agreements- Taking credit for someone else’s work or ideas.

Engaging in dishonest or deceitful practices in personal or professional relationships.

Lie is a false statement or assertion made with the intention of deceiving or misleading someone.

Lies can be spoken or written and can range from small, white lies to more serious and harmful deceptions.

Lies can take many forms, including:- False statements or assertions- Misrepresentations or exaggerations- Omissions or withholding of truth- Deceptive or misleading information.
