In an internal memo, VP of Human Resources Janelle Gale stated that Meta will begin laying off around 3,000 workers on February 10.
Employees who are impacted will receive an email notification on Monday, and they will no longer have access to corporate systems within an hour.Known as “performance terminations,” the cuts target underachievers, with some positions anticipated to be filled.
Employees in other parts of Europe, Asia, and Africa will be notified of layoffs between February 11 and 18, while those in Germany, France, Italy, and the Netherlands are exempt because of local rules.
This comes after Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO, pushed for higher performance expectations.
In keeping with its 2025 targets, Meta intends to increase hiring for machine learning engineers in spite of the layoffs.

As Zuckerberg supports Trump, Meta has backed off on diversity and fact-checking efforts.
Zuckerberg changed Meta’s guidelines to remove limitations on certain content on its apps, which include WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, and Threads.
