With his choice of shirt number at his current club, Monterrey, Real Madrid legend Sergio Ramos has made fun of his old adversaries, Atletico Madrid.
After leaving Sevilla in July 2024, Ramos spent the beginning of the season without a club before signing a free agency contract with Monterrey of the Mexican Liga MX this winter.
Despite being Ramos’ third club since departing Los Blancos in 2021, it is evident that the 15-time Champions League champions continue to be his favorite.
Ramos selected shirt number 93 when he joined Monterrey to commemorate his famous equalizer for Real Madrid against Atletico Madrid in the 93rd minute of the 2014 Champions League final. Gareth Bale, Marcelo, and Cristiano Ronaldo helped Los Blancos defeat their fierce city rivals 4-1 in extra time. The 38-year-old then talked candidly about how he felt about the historic occasion.
Speaking to the media, Ramos said: “The 93rd minute was epic. It is a tribute to Real Madrid and to my career.”Real Madrid’s social media also announced the same and paid tribute to their legend.

On Sunday, February 9, Monterrey will play Juarez; however, Ramos will not play in the match and will probably have to wait another week to make his debut for the Mexican team.
