The two internal labor unions pledged to immediately restore power to Kaduna State and all of its franchise states, while the management of Kaduna Electric committed to evaluate its previous actions.

IREPORT247NEW reports that 900 workers were fired by the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (Kaduna Electric). After being sacked, the employees go on an indefinite strike.

On the second day of strike, some people had to walk long distances to obtain water for cooking and drinking from the few boreholes in their neighbourhoods that were supplied by solar energy or generators.

As people flocked to the few generator-powered boreholes, the price of water offered by cart-borne water vendors has gone up.

Members of the National Union of electrical Employees demanded that the administration of the electrical firm revoke the letters of disengagement that were sent to the 900 employees.

The workers also claimed that a former military governor of Kano state, who currently holds a significant stake in the company, was responsible for the current issue between them and the business.

However, after Governor Uba Sani called a meeting with both parties at Sir Kashim Ibrahim House on Friday, which ended at approximately 8 p.m., the decisions were reached.

The governor was commended by the unions for his assistance, they also praised the management, which was skillfully headed by Dr. Hashidu, for advancing Kaduna Electric.

The parties further said that the labor unions and Kaduna Electric management are partners in progress and that a communication breakdown was the cause of the incident.

Additionally, the conference argued that in order to find an amicable settlement of the dispute, there must be a give-and-take on the side of both Management and Labour.

Comrade Rilwanu Shehu, Deputy President North of the Senior Staff Association of Electricity and Allied Companies (SSAEAC), Comrade Wisdom Nwachukwu, Vice President (Distribution) of the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE), and Dr. Umar Abubakar Hashidu, Managing Director of the electricity company, all signed the resolution.
