Mohammed El-Rufai, the eldest son of Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, has stated that he is in favor of the Kaduna State Government’s investigation of his father’s administration, so long as it is carried out with impartiality and clarity.
Mohammed emphasized in a Saturday interview with the BBC Hausa Service that although accountability is important, any investigation must concentrate on finding the truth rather than settling personal scores.
However, the lawmaker in the House of Representatives who represents the Kaduna North Federal Constituency warned against using probes as a political stunt.
Such probes only impede progress if they are conducted for self-serving purposes, he stated.
Mohammed went on to explain that it is not his job to make amends between his father and his successor, Governor Uba Sani, and that the media is exaggerating the distance between them.
However, given the roles that both his father and the governor played in his life, Mohammed expressed his displeasure with the “cold war” between them.
Mohammed emphasized his dedication to serving his voters and said that governing his community well comes before settling the ongoing conflict.
“Some people are delighted to see my father and the Governor involved in a dispute, akin to the famous Bollywood actors Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra fighting,” he remarked.
