
President Bola Tinubu congratulated Mr Nkem Owoh, a veteran Nollywood actor, comedian, singer, and scriptwriter, on his 70th birthday.
Tinubu expressed his congratulations in a statement signed and issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, headed ‘President Tinubu honors Nollywood star Nkem Owoh on 70th birthday.’
The President praised Owoh’s contributions to Nigeria’s entertainment industry and his reputation as one of its most beloved individuals.
Nkem Owoh, affectionately known as “Osuofia” by fans, has captivated viewers for decades with his humor and versatility, thanks to his memorable roles in the hit comedy series Ikuku 1 and 2 and Osuofia in London.
As a pioneer in Nollywood and TV drama, he has received multiple awards, including the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role in 2008 for the film Stronger Than Pain, establishing his place as a major force in Nollywood’s golden era.
President Tinubu praised Owoh’s commitment to storytelling, which has delighted millions and highlighted Nigeria’s rich cultural history around the world.
“Today, we honor a true legend whose talent has brought joy to generations of Nigerians and Africans around the world.” Mr Owoh’s renowned roles, particularly as Osuofia, have cemented his place in our cultural heritage.
