Marcus Rashford left Manchester United because they couldn’t agree, according to manager Ruben Amorim.
After saying he wanted a “new challenge,” the 27-year-old Rashford, who hasn’t played for United since December, signed a loan deal with Aston Villa.
For £40 million, Villa has the option to make the deal permanent, which might put an end to Rashford’s lengthy affiliation with United.
“I couldn’t get Marcus to see the way you’re supposed to play football and to train the way I see it,” Amorim stated.
“There are instances when a player excels under one coach but performs differently under another.
“I wish the best to Rashford and to (Villa manager) Unai Emery, and they can connect because he’s a very good player.”
When pressed for details, he continued, “Like me, you know that’s not how that happens.
You experience that both as a player and as a coach.
That’s quite typical. It was the case with numerous coaches.
“The important thing is that I’m here saying that was my decision, like Ty (Malacia) and Antony was my decision to do these loans, and to keep some players even without any transfers.”
