Former Nigeria Midfielder Jay Jay Okocha Is My Everlasting “Goat” – Iwobi

The Nigerian international Alex Iwobi has revealed that the Nigeria Talisman Jay-Jay Okocha, the legendary player for the Super Eagles, is still his favorite football player of all time.

Iwobi, who plays for Fulham now, has frequently expressed how much he admires Okocha, who is also his uncle.

The former midfielder for Everton and Arsenal attributes a lot of his career to Okocha, who he grew up watching dominate African and European football with his dribbling ability.

In a recent interview with the Is This Seat Taken podcast, Iwobi said he has a tremendous deal of respect for Okocha and believes he is his finest player ever.

“In the sports? Forever my uncle, Jay Jay Okocha. I have to shout him out all the time. On and off the field.” he said.

Widely regarded as one of Africa’s most gifted players, Okocha was known for his extraordinary dribbling ability, and vision on the pitch.

Fans will never forget his performances with the Nigerian Super Eagles and teams like Bolton Wanderers and Paris Saint-Germain.

Iwobi has once again given the 51-year-old credit for influencing his playing style and, consequently, his playing career.

“I used to go watch his matches and training sessions. He his the one that really taught me how to express myself.

“And off the pitch he is always advising me on how to be professional, manage my money, how to move, stay humble and grounded. So he will always be my idol” added the former Arsenal player.

Iwobi joined Everton in 2019 after beginning his professional career with Arsenal. Later, in 2023, he moved to Fulham, where, under Marco Silva’s coaching, he has maintained his impressive play.

Since making his debut in 2015, he has also been a vital member of the Super Eagles, scoring 10 goals and collecting over 80 caps.
