The actions of local council revenue collectors, who frequently harass drivers in the city, have been prohibited by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).

In a statement made at the conclusion of the FCT Security Council meeting on Friday in Abuja, Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, Olatunji Disu, advised citizens and drivers to report to the police any individuals who harass them while driving under the pretense of collecting taxes.

The revenue collectors, known as “AMAC Boys,” are dispersed throughout the six Area Councils; however, their actions are most noticeable in Kubwa, Bwari Area Council, and the city center, which are under the jurisdiction of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC).

“Yes, we have received that report on the activities of ‘AMAC Boys’ levying innocent residents of the Federal Capital Territory, and as I speak with you, we are planning operations and making sure that this becomes a thing of the past,” Disu told journalists.

After that, our numbers are available to the general public. Call those numbers right away if you are being harassed anywhere in town so that the police can come help you.

He said that security chiefs alternated in updating the minister on the accomplishments of the previous three weeks, “particularly having to do with the operations on the vandalism of infrastructure, manhole theft, and all the electricity wires being stolen by vandals,” during the security council meeting presided over by Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The Minister expressed great satisfaction with the successful operation. We informed him that we had reached the point where we were profiling the participants in the renowned Panteka.

The Minister received a briefing on the clearance operation that is underway in every region of our neighboring states that border the Federal Capital Territory at the same time.

The police, military, and civil defense have been conducting extensive clearance efforts after spotting the bandits’ impending approach to the Federal Capital Territory.

“This clearance operation has been ongoing and has gone incredibly well. For the past week or two, it has been helping to bring about the calm you have been observing.

In order to have a collective perspective on how to police our different states, we ultimately agreed to include security personnel and other states that border the Federal Capital Territory in joint discussions, collaboration, and operations.

We don’t want a state to start this clearance effort and then have the militants start to spread to other parts of the country.

At the end of the day, it was decided that the task force’s operations, which included all six agencies, would go on. They have been assigned various duties, and we anticipate this partnership, which has proven to be very fruitful,” he continued.
