Bolt, an e-hailing business, has responded to the death of Henry Osemwenkhia, one of its drivers in Benin City, who was allegedly assaulted by four Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps members who are currently being held in police custody.

According to report, Osemwenkhia, the deceased, filed a complaint at the New Etete Police Station on February 4, 2025, claiming that during a fight at the De Kaso Hotel on Limit Road in Benin City, he was assaulted by NSCDC officers and other individuals.

The police claim that Osemwenkhia was given a medical report for treatment, but the next day, while awaiting the results of a scan, he was discovered dead at his house.

The Edo police command has promised to investigate the subject further after this development.

The business expressed trust in the police inquiry, adding that the driver passed away outside of an active trip on the company’s platform.

“We respect the Edo State Police Command’s current investigation and hope that those involved will be apprehended as soon as possible.

We continue to place a high premium on the safety and wellbeing of drivers and passengers, and we will support the appropriate authorities until the guilty parties are held accountable.
