Samson Osagie, the suspended Edo State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, has denied financial violations.
Osagie and Damian Lawani, the chairman of the Edo State Local Government Service Commission, were suspended on Wednesday for alleged financial and official violations.
In a letter dated February 5, 2025, signed by Secretary to the state government Umar Ikhilor, Governor Monday Okpehbolo ordered the suspension of the two and the creation of a committee to look into the allegations made against them and provide recommendations.
On Thursday, Osagie denied the accusation against him and stated his willingness to defend himself and establish his innocence.
“I was suspended after allegedly engaging in financial infractions with the Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission, according to a government special announcement dated February 5, 2025,” he stated.
“I want to make it clear that I have never engaged in any financial transactions with anyone and have never broken any laws pertaining to money.
“Additionally, no one confronted me with the aforementioned accusations following the announcement of my suspension.
“In order to clear my name and restore the hard-earned reputation I have worked so hard to establish over the years, I will be ready to defend myself and prove my innocence.”
