Salman Dogo Garba, the commissioner of police for Kano State, met with transportation stakeholders on Wednesday to talk about the continued requirement that all vehicles operating on Kano State highways have third-party auto insurance.

The commissioner had meetings with the chairman of Kano Line Motor Park, the Nigeria Association of Road Transport Owners, the National Union of Road Transport Workers, and the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria.

SP Abdullahi Haruna, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, made this announcement on Thursday.

The commissioner acknowledged the excellent degree of compliance among state motor vehicle owners and praised the stakeholders for their cooperation.

From the first day of enforcement, he observed that more than 85% of car owners had the necessary third-party motor insurance document.

“In accordance with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, the Kano State Police Command will persist in enforcing the third-party motor insurance requirement,” stated SP Haruna.

Stakeholders were urged by the Commissioner to encourage their members to assist law enforcement and report any suspicious activity to the closest police station or by calling 08032419754, 08123821575, or 09019292926.

Additionally, he urged everyone to keep following traffic laws and guidelines.

The commissioner commended the public’s assistance and urged drivers and owners of motor vehicles to take immediate action to obtain third-party insurance.

According to the statement, “this is essential since it will help prevent legal repercussions and improve road safety for everyone.”
