The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited abruptly closed a number of its retail locations in the capital city, leaving residents of the Federal Capital Territory stranded and struggling with fuel shortages.

The national oil company’s administration reportedly ordered the stations to close for a few days.

The closures, which are expected to last until next week, were blamed to logistical difficulties and have resulted in lengthy lines at the remaining stations, causing many commuters and drivers to wait for hours.

According to a station manager who verified the difficulty and the NNPCL management’s direction, the closure was brought on by internal changes that had an impact on all stations.
