Six vandals of electric installations have been apprehended by the Bauchi State Police command’s officers, who have also retrieved stolen property.

In a news release sent to reporters on Tuesday, Ahmed Wakil, the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, revealed this. “On December 25, 2024, while on night visibility patrol, detectives from the Command apprehended a 20-year-old man named Hamza Mohammed’m’ from the Gwallameji area of Bauchi and a 22-year-old man named Mustapha Sa’idu’m’ from Rafin Tambari.”

They conspired to break into a house in the Rafin Tambari area of Bauchi and steal two car tires and two bags of cement valued at an estimated N249,000.” Wakil clarified the incident.

The same gang, along with another member named Aliyu Musa “m,” allegedly plotted to damage an electric aluminum conductor owned by Jos Electricity Power Company (JED) in Tambari Housing Estate in Bauchi State on January 14, 2025.

“It was further revealed that the suspects had already negotiated with one Al-ameen Ibrahim behind the IDC area of Bauchi to purchase the stolen items at his liberty price,” the PPRO said, revealing that both suspects openly confessed to the crime during the inquiry.

Several electric aluminum conductors, a hacksaw, and a Jincheng motorcycle are among the found exhibits. He stated that the investigation was still in progress and that the accused would face charges in court.

Wakil further stated that “on January 25, 2025, the officers assigned to Kirfi Divisional Police headquarters, based on information, arrested Shehu Isah’m’, 45, of Unguwan Karofi, via Kirfi LGA, Bauchi State, lured a five-year-old girl (name withheld), and had carnal knowledge of her in his room by force.”

In a similar case, detectives assigned to the Ningi Divisional Police headquarters were notified on January 16, 2025, that a ten-year-old “f” (name withheld) had allegedly gone missing on January 15.

Investigation revealed that on the same day, police officers working with quasi-security personnel in the Tsohuwar Ningi region of Ningi LGA, Bauchi State, arrested one Shafi’u Sule ‘m’ of Katsinawa Tabulawa village along with the missing girl.”

“An investigation into the case showed that the suspect threatened to burn the victim alive and cut off her tongue if she dared to call for help,” he said. Wakil claims that the suspect voluntarily confirmed the victim’s allegation during questioning.

According to the PPRO, Auwal Muhammad, the Commissioner of Police for the Bauchi State Police Command, has ordered that the case be forwarded to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Bauchi for additional investigation. Following this, the suspect will be profiled and charged with the relevant offense in order to face charges.
