Following his recent departure from the opposition party, Senator Ned Nwoko (representing Delta North) has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the ruling All Progressives Congress, according to the Senate.

Remember how Nwoko justified his defection to the APC by pointing to the PDP’s current situation, internal conflicts, and instability.

According to the report, the legislator claimed that he left the PDP because previous governor Ifeanyi Okowa and Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori did not allow him the freedom to do his job.

Channels TV reported that when he was led to the Upper Chamber’s majority wing, raucous shouts broke out.

Along with his defection, the senator asked the Senate to form an ad hoc committee to look into the PDP’s ongoing issue in a letter that was read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

He emphasized that in order to protect Nigeria’s political environment and guarantee a fair democratic process, there must be a strong opposition.
