During an anti-drug operation in Tumbau Village, Gezawa Local Government Area, Kano State Command’s National Drug Law Enforcement Agency arrested Nuhu Baba, a 75-year-old man.
In a statement provided to PUNCH on Tuesday, Sadiq Maigatari, the command’s spokesperson, revealed this.
According to Maigatari, the operation resulted in the discovery of a number of illegal drugs, including Rubber Solution, Exol-5, Diazepam, Tramadol, and Cannabis Sativa.
According to the statement, Nuhu Baba admitted to the authorities after an investigation that he had been using this illegal trade to support himself for the last two years.
He emphasized that the arrest demonstrated the widespread effects of drug misuse and trafficking, which affect people of all ages, including the elderly.
He called for greater community involvement in the battle against substance misuse and reaffirmed the NDLEA’s commitment to addressing drug-related crimes.
Abubakar Idris-Ahmad, the state commander, also emphasized the need of public cooperation while restating the agency’s commitment to fighting drug trafficking in the state.
Ahmad said, “The public is still being urged by the NDLEA Kano Command to be on the lookout and report any suspicious activity related to drug trafficking.”
