With 16 people killed in Sunday’s violent herdsmen attack, residents of Amegu Nkalaha Community in the Ishielu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State are rushing to leave their homes.
IREPORT247NEW reported the terrified incident that occurred in Ebonyi community on Sunday. Multiple residents of Amegu Nkalaha Community in Ishielu Local Government Area, Ebonyi State were killed and injured by suspected herdsmen.
Armed with rifles and cutlasses, the attackers stormed the neighbourhood on Sunday morning, killing numerous people and demolishing homes.
Due to the tragic incident hundreds of people were observed on the road when Sahara visited the hamlet on Monday, taking some of their possessions, such as mattresses and cooking pans, to neighboring communities.
They claimed that the Nigerian military was supporting the Fulani herdsmen killings and that the police and military had arrived on Saturday to warn them not to leave the area, assailants strike occurs after, killing 16 people and causing chaos for hours.
 They claimed that Nigerian Army soldiers and a few police officers were dispatched to the area to offer their condolences to the people following the slaughter.
“Worse still, when they came the soldiers seized the phones of our people who were making videos and threatened that if they see the videos of the carnage and pictures of the destruction they will come back and destroy them,” one of the residents whose phone was seized told sahara
According to him, “After they carried 10 corpses which our people recovered including a retired policeman namely Mr James Ogbu, from different locations they were slaughtered, the soldiers returned and handed back the phones seized from the people.
“Even the deputy governor of Ebonyi, Mrs Patricia Obila, was the one telling the police that they should go for mass arrest in our community, accusing our people of killing cows belonging to the Fulani herdsmen. Till now, she hasn’t visited the community,” he added
