13 Injured, 4 Dead In Niger Road Crash

A road accident in Niger State claimed the lives of four persons, while 13 others were hurt and sent to the General Hospital.

Three trailer trucks were engaged in a head-on collision on Monday due to speeding, which occurred along the Agaie-Lapai road.

The driver of one of the trailers tried a mistaken overtake, killing 15 of the 20 goats and 20 cows that were on board.

In a WhatsApp message to our correspondent, Abdullahi Baba-Arah, the Director General of the Niger State Emergency Management Agency, acknowledged the disaster and said that his desk officers and volunteers participated in the rescue effort.

“NSEMA has been notified about a traffic accident that happened today, February 3, 2025, in Agaie LGA, near Al’Farma International School Agaie, along Agaie – Lapai route.

Three trailer trucks collided head-on, one of which was transporting goats and livestock. Wrong overtaking was identified as the crash’s cause.

Four people have been killed in the regrettable tragedy that happened this afternoon; two of them passed away on the scene, and the other two died in the hospital.

More than 20 goats and about 15 animals perished. Thirteen injured people have been taken to Agaie General Hospital and are undergoing treatment as of the time this story was filed.

The rescue efforts were carried out in the interim by the NSEMA Agaie desk officer and a few volunteers, Baba-Arah stated.
