Joshua Simeon was apprehended by Anambra State Police Command agents in the state’s Idemili North Local Government Area when he was allegedly attempting to flee with a stolen five-year-old child. Nkemdilim Jacob, the victim, was abducted from her Obosi parents.
On Sunday, February 2, command spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga said the suspect was taken into custody in a parking lot after receiving reliable information.
Ikenga explained that Ogidi Area Command police officers apprehended Joshua Simeon, 32, of Ohaozara, Ebonyi State, at Nkpor Central Park, Idemili North Local Government Area, on February 1, 2025, at 4 p.m. The squad also found Nkemdilim Jacob, a five-year-old girl who was allegedly snatched from her parents in Umuota Village Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area, by the suspect.
Before being apprehended, the defendant had already gotten into a commercial truck and was traveling to an unidentified location. The suspect is currently being questioned while in detention in order to learn more about his motivations and to identify whether this incidence is a part of a wider network of child trafficking, she added.
