Nigeria’s Tems was one of the winners of the 2025 Grammy Awards, which took place on Sunday, February 2, marking the grandest night in music.
The event at Crypto.com Arena, which is hosted by Trevor Noah for the fifth year, honors the biggest breakout stars, number-one singles, and beloved performers of 2024.
Nigerian Afrobeats star Tems has secured her second Grammy Award, winning in the Best African Music Performance category at the 67th Recording Academy Awards.
Her hit song Love Me Jeje triumphed in a category dominated by Afrobeats heavyweights, with Chris Brown as the only non-Afrobeats nominee.
Other Nigerian musicians like Burna Boy, Asake, and Wizkid, who collaborated on MMS, as well as Yemi Alade and Davido, who joined Lojay on Chris Brown’s Sensational, posed a serious threat to Tems.
The singer said, “Wow, dear God,” during her acceptance speech. I sincerely appreciate you giving me this team and placing me on stage.
“My mother’s birthday is tomorrow, and this is her first Grammy Awards. Since my mother has done so much for my brother and myself, I just wanted to say thank you.
“Mum, happy birthday. And my staff deserves my gratitude. My gorgeous stylist Wale, Muyiwa, and the kind girls… I cherish you all.
“Thank you so lot. Glory to God. To be honest, he has greatly altered my life.
Tems’ standing as one of Africa’s most renowned international music superstars is further cemented by her most recent Grammy accomplishment.
