A V-wagon commercial bus and a Toyota Camry sedan collided on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway on Friday night, injuring seven people to varied degrees.
The event was confirmed by Mr. William Manga, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) unit commander, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Badagry.
According to Manga, the collision happened near Sawmill Bus Stop in the Ibereko section of the motorway at approximately 11:10 p.m.
“Our personnel were alerted about the accident at about 11:15 p.m. and got to the scene at 11:22 p.m., seven minutes after they were alerted.
“The accident involved two vehicles,” he said.
He clarified that a Toyota Camry auto bus with license plate KRD 232 HD from Mile 2 collided head-on with a V-wagon commercial bus from Badagry with registration number AGL 867 YA after the latter lost control during a U-turn.
“24 persons were involved in the accident, with four men and three women sustaining varying degrees of injury,” he stated.
The injured individuals were transported to Care General Hospital in Badagry for medical attention, the FRSC commander stated.
According to Manga, reckless driving was the cause of the collision. He said that the two cars involved in the collision had been transported to Badagry’s Mowo Police Station.
Manga urged drivers to always follow traffic laws and regulations and to refrain from overloading and speeding.
