Jordan Henderson, an Ajax veteran who agreed to join Monaco, was not selected captain on Thursday night.
Despite being named captain at the beginning of the season, he chose not to wear the armband during Ajax’s Europa League match against Galatasaray.
It’s still unknown why he changed his leadership, whether it was because of the transfer transactions or something else entirely.
This season, Henderson, the former captain of Liverpool, has made 32 appearances for Ajax.
He helped Ajax get through one of their most difficult seasons after joining from Al-Ettifaq a year ago.
He now seems to be headed to Monaco on loan, where he will play for the remainder of the season.
