The unexpected death of Dr. Blessing Eyakenyi Adewunmi, the daughter of Akwa Ibom State Deputy Governor Akon Eyakenyi, has shocked and saddened Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Remi Tinubu.
In a heartfelt condolence message, the First Lady called the loss “painful and deeply distressing” and offered her sympathies to the family.
“I extend my condolences to her husband, parents, and family. Dr. Blessing’s unfortunate death is excruciating and a great loss,” she said.
In an attempt to provide solace, Tinubu cited 1 Thessalonians 5:18, which exhorts believers to express gratitude in every circumstance.
Additionally, she reiterated the scriptural verse found in Job 1:21, saying, “The LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.”
She prayed for strength and peace for the family, expressing hope that God’s word would guide them through their grief. “May the Lord God grant you all the strength to bear this irreplaceable loss,” she said. “May her gentle soul rest in peace.”
