Morgan Rogers of Aston Villa was overcome with emotion following his UEFA Champions League hat-trick.
The 22-year-old made headlines as he assisted Aston Villa in reaching the round of 16.
“Prior to Wednesday’s pivotal meeting against Celtic at Villa Park, Rogers had never scored two goals in a single game.
“I’ve been thinking about it for a while because I’ve never scored two goals in a game in my career,” he stated.”
“I’ve never experienced that feeling or experience before, and I’ll never forget doing it on this stage during a crucial game that we knew we had to win.”
“We wanted to come out of the blocks really fast and really strong,” Rogers continued.
“We were aware of the mood and the event, but we chose not to let it affect us. We got off to a strong start and played the way we wanted to.”
“Going two to one was nice, but we weren’t happy with how they returned to the game.” It was comparable to West Ham over the weekend, when we got off to a strong start and gave them a sniff while we were in control.”
“We were constantly creating opportunities throughout the game, so we knew we had too much for them. We were aware that we had enough to win. All we had to do was put our opportunities away, and we succeeded.”
