Tensions flared today Wednesday during a crucial meeting of the People’s Democratic Party Board of Trustees, BOT at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja, as supporters of Senator Samuel Anyanwu forcibly ejected Chief Ude-Okoye from the gathering.

The meeting, which was intended to strategize for the upcoming elections and discuss party policies, took an unexpected twist when Ude-Okoye was booted out by suspected things and loyalist of Anyanwu.

Both Anyanwu and Use Okoye are laying claim to the national secretary position of the PDP.

Ude Okoye who arrived the venue of the meeting earlier was already seated Until Anyanwu came alongside the acting National Chairman, Ambassador Iliya Damagum.

Ude Okoye was thereafter disgracefully hurled out of the venue despite him screaming for help.

The position of the PDP National Secretary has been a contentious issue since Anyanwu left to contest the Imo governorship position which he lost..

The vacuum created by his departure to contest the governorship elections led the South-East Caucus of the party to endorse Ude-Okoye to replace him.

Anyanwu had since returned to the party to reclaim his position as national secretary. A move rejected by Ude- Okoye.

The incident has sparked widespread concern about the ongoing infighting within the party, raising questions about its unity and leadership moving forward.

The confrontation highlights the deepening rifts within the PDP, which has been grappling with internal divisions since the last electoral cycle. With various factions vying for power and influence, party unity has become increasingly elusive

Kindly recall that an Appeal Court in Enugu had upheld an earlier decision of a High Court removing Anyanwu as PDP National Secretary and affirmed Ude-Okoye as the authentic holder of the position on December 20, 2024

The factionalisation in the party could portend doom and electoral loss as witnessed in the last 2023 general elections.
