The Federal Government said it generated about N2.4 billion in 2024 from marriage contracts via its marriage registry at the Ministry of Interior.
During a media briefing on Tuesday in Abuja, Interior Minister Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo revealed this.
In addition, he said, the ministry received nearly N3.2 billion from applications for expatriate quotas, indicating a 150 percent increase in total revenue.
Furthermore, the Federal Government also stated that it repatriated 828 aliens to their various countries in 2024.
This was revealed by Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo during the Abuja media conference.
He stated that the Nigeria Immigration Service, or NIS, was responsible for the repatriation, but he did not specify the particular offenses they had committed.
