The Oyo State Government has warned event coordinators, and anybody else organising lavish events for St. Valentine’s Day to make sure they follow the laws and guidelines of the state.

According to a statement made by Prince Dotun Oyelade, the Commissioner for Information, numerous broadcast stations have been promoting Valentine’s Day celebrations at different locations through advertisements and promotions.

The commissioner underlined that in order to guarantee that they have adequate logistics in place for smooth gatherings, all parties involved in organising such events must actively involve security agencies, such as the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), the Nigeria Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Amotekun, Operation Burst, and other security arms.

In addition, the Commissioner emphasised that the planners, security, and medical staff all agree on the locations.

To guarantee proper medical support, the institutions Management Board and the Oyo State Ministry of Health must also be involved, as well as private institutions if needed.

The Commissioner issued a warning that anyone who disobeys this order will be subject to the full force of the law.

He reminded everyone that the state is still in sorrow for the 35 children who died needlessly on December 18, 2024, during a meeting in Ibadan.
