The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, or NAPTIP, said in a statement provided to newsmen on Thursday, January 23, 2025, in Abuja that its agents had rescued nine pregnant women from a baby factory in the Federal Capital Territory.

According to Mr. Adekoye, Press Officer, NAPTIP, the baby factory is located at one of the expansive estates in the Ushafa area of the Federal Capital Territory, and the raid on the facility came after a tip from a concerned citizen.

He claimed that after being enlisted via an internet platform, the victims were imprisoned in an apartment within the estate by an unnamed suspected trafficking agent.

Additionally, Mr. Adekoye stated that the agency’s Director-General, Binta Adamu-Bello, had praised the judiciary for the historic decision to convict and sentence Bishop Kenneth Duke.

In Abuja, Duke allegedly sexually assaulted a 12-year-old girl who was the daughter of one of his church members.

While cautioning that the Agency would not spare anyone who violates any of its laws, the DG stated that the ruling will act as a deterrence to others.

“Like, I warned a few weeks ago, NAPTIP will not spare anyone found to have violated any of the Laws irrespective of status, either on human trafficking or violence against persons,” she said.

”Repe is a serious crime with everlasting psychological effect and lasting trauma on the victim. We must all rise to say no to this heinous crime and ensure the protection of our children.

“How, can you imagine a 52 years old man violating a 12-year-old girl? It is painful and it is criminal. I am relieved that the Judiciary has served the convict the commensurate dose of punishment,” she stated.
