As of early 2024, Nigeria’s internet penetration rate is roughly 45.5%, with about 103 million internet users reported at that time.

This represents a minor rise from 55.4% at the beginning of 2023, suggesting variations in user access and engagement. Nigeria still has issues with infrastructure and network preparedness even though it ranks eleventh in the world for internet penetration.

Nigeria’s internet penetration has fluctuated significantly during the last ten years. By 2022, the rate has risen to 51% from about 28% in 2015.

However, it fell to 45.5% in early 2024 after reaching a peak of 55.4% in early 2023. The influence of the COVID-19 pandemic, which at first raised user numbers due to increased online activity during lockdowns, infrastructure investments, and the expansion of mobile connectivity are some of the factors affecting these shifts.
