At 10.30 am, the Idiroko Division police got a complaint that someone had been killed at the Celestial Church, which is situated along Old Baggage Road in Odo Eran, Idiroko.

Officers hurried to the site and found the corpse, face up, in a pool of blood that smeared his white heavenly garment.

His assailants verified his death by noting that his skull had been gravely damaged by an axe and that his body was covered in gunshot wounds.

Three men entered the church, displayed a long, double-barreled gun, aimed it at their target, and fired a shot that produced panic and allowed the attackers to flee, the church members told the police.

The deceased’s remains have been placed in the General Hospital Mortuary in Ilaro as the police work to capture the attackers.
