Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade, the new Alaafin of Oyo, will be formally crowned the 46th Alaafin in Oyo State’s town on Friday, April 4, 2025.
According to the source, a number of committees are being formed between the Oyo State Government and the Palace of Alaafin ahead of the momentous day.
The Alaafin would perform seclusion ceremonies, also called Alaafin Rituals, before April 4 in order to sufficiently prepare him both spiritually and physically to take on the role of his ancestors.
On Friday, January 10, 2025, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde endorsed Owoade’s nomination as the 46th Alaafin of Oyo. On Monday, January 13, 2025, he also gave the first-class monarch the personnel and tools of office.
