About a dozen persons have been killed and numerous others injured in a tanker explosion that occurred at Dikko Junction on the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway in the Gurara local government area of Niger State at around ten in the morning on Saturday.
People gathered to pick up the product that had spilled from the tanker when the explosion happened, which led to the conclusion that the death rate was high.
Although he acknowledged the event, Kumar Tsukwam, Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), stated that the exact number of fatalities was still unknown.
Mohammed Umar Bago, the governor of Niger State, voiced concern about the frequent tank explosions in the state through Bologi Ibrahim, his chief press secretary.
