Ademola Adeleke, the governor of Osun State, has praised DSS agents for their proactive efforts in apprehending alleged members of the Islamic State’s West Africa Province (ISWAP) and Boko Haram in Ilesa.
In a statement released on Saturday by his spokeswoman, Olawale Rasheed, the governor praised the operatives’ awareness in removing the state’s terrorist threat.
He asserts that the DSS’s intelligence-gathering apparatus, which resulted in the suspected terrorist’s arrest, is evidence that the nation’s security forces are capable of protecting its citizens.
The governor stated that protecting Osun people’s lives and property is still his top concern and that his administration would continue to support and collaborate with security services in order to achieve this goal.
“This is a welcome development and a big relief, not just for us as a government but to the people of the state and Nigeria in general. I commend the security operatives for their alertness and intelligence-driven operation. We have absolute confidence in our security forces to keep protecting us.
“As the Chief Security Officer of Osun State, I will continue to give priority to issues of security of my people. I will continue to support the efforts of security agencies to guard against any breakdown of law and order in any part of Osun. We will sustain the good relationship and collaboration that currently exists between our administration and the security agencies in the state”, he said.
Assuring that Osun will remain a peaceful state under his leadership, Governor Adeleke further urged Osun residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity in their neighborhoods to the appropriate security agency.
