The transmission lines that deliver bulk power to Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), have been attacked once more, according to the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).

TCN’s 132kv transmission line and underground cable that transport bulk power to the 132kv Central Area transmission substation, Katampe, in the Central Area of Abuja, experienced an incident early on Friday morning, according to Mrs. Ndidi Mbah, general manager, Public Affairs.

She claimed that it was thought that unidentified individuals were responsible for the damage to the power infrastructure in the vicinity of Millennium Park, which impacted the energy supply to Maitama, Wuse, Garki, Jabi, Life Camp, Asokoro, Utako, Mabushi, and a portion of Presidential Villa.

She disclosed that more over 60% of Abuja’s power supply was impacted, and eight distribution feeders that supplied the Central Area were also impacted.

According to the GM, 40 meters of 1x500mm xlpe conductor on the 2No 132kv transmission line were taken by the vandals.

Mbah said the business has sent a team of experts to the location to ensure a speedy restoration of power in the affected districts, while also denouncing the ongoing act of vandalism of power wires throughout the nation.

She urged Nigerians to exercise caution and safeguard TCN’s transmission apparatus.
