Man Fatally Stabs his Elder Brother in Kebbi State.

In the Shanga Local Government Area of the state, Yunusa Haruna, 25, was detained by the Kebbi State Police Command for stabbing his older brother to death.

According to a statement released by the command spokesperson, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, on Friday, January 17, 2025, police also detained Abubakar Umar for allegedly stabbing a man to death in the Zuru Local Government Area.

“On December 31, 2024, at approximately 8:00 PM, police arrested Yunusa Haruna, 25, from Bakin Turu village in Shanga LGA, for allegedly stabbing his elder brother, Isiyaku Haruna, to d3ath,” the statement read. 

“According to police reports, the suspect attacked his brother with a sharp knife during an altercation, leading to the victim’s d3ath. The arrest followed a swift response from officers at the Shanga Divisional Police Headquarters.

“In another incident on January 8, 2025, at about 4:30 PM, Abubakar Umar, 25, of Jarkasa in Zuru LGA, reportedly stabbed Mohammed Bala in the head with a knife during a disagreement, k!lling him instantly.

“Umar is also accused of injuring Mohammed’s younger brother, Sama’ila Bala, during the altercation. Officers from the Zuru Divisional Police Headquarters promptly apprehended the suspect following the incident.”

Bello Sani, the Commissioner of Police, responded to the events by expressing his profound worry and denouncing the violent activities.

Instead of using self-help, he advised Kebbi State citizens to report complaints to the appropriate authorities for solutions.

The State Criminal inquiry Department’s (SCID) Deputy Commissioner of Police has been charged by the Commissioner with carrying out a comprehensive inquiry into the facts of both incidents.

When the investigations are over, the suspects will face charges in court.

The Command also reaffirmed its dedication to upholding law and order and urged the public to assist security efforts by contributing reliable information.
