A mother is accused of poisoning her one-year-old daughter and sharing a video of the baby’s anguish online in order to raise money on GoFundMe.
According to reports, the 34-year-old lady went to “great lengths” to hide the fact that she was administering the infant prescription and store-bought medications without a doctor’s consent.
Paul Dalton, a detective inspector in Queensland, Australia, told reporters this.
When the child was receiving treatment for a severe mental illness in October of last year, hospital staff in Brisbane, the capital of Queensland, informed police of their suspicions, according to Dalton.
According to him, police opened an inquiry and took “immediate action” to protect the infant. Although police would not formally confirm it, the Sunshine Coast woman from Queensland was widely touted as the baby’s mother in the local media.
According to Dalton, she was charged with recording and sharing pictures of the infant’s “immense distress and pain” between August and October of last year in an attempt to solicit money from her online fan base.
According to police, a test for illegal medications reportedly came up positive this month.
On Thursday, she was charged with eleven crimes. Dalton said, “There are no words to describe just how repulsive offences of this nature are.
“There is no excuse for hurting a child, particularly one so young that is totally dependent on adults to care and love for them.”
According to Dalton, the woman is charged with using GoFundMe to raise little over Aus$60,000 (US$37,000), with the intention of returning the funds to the contributors.
On Friday, she was supposed to appear at Brisbane Magistrates Court.
