Hajiya Farida Umar, a candidate from the North Central Zone for national ex-officio of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has expressed optimism that the party will recover more strongly in 2027.

According to Umar, the party will not only occupy its proper position but also unseat the APC-led administration, which she claimed had done poorly.

Speaking to reporters, Umar reiterated that Nigerians continue to look on the PDP to turn the nation around.

But in order to guarantee that the proper leaders emerge to create a strong basis for the party’s triumph in 2027, she emphasized the importance of unity and openness during the next congress.

“This is a crucial time to ensure the right leaders emerge, laying a solid foundation for the party to take over power from the failed APC led federal government,” she noted.

Speaking of her goal, Umar promised that if elected national ex-officio, she would work to advance and fortify the PDP before the 2027 elections.

She claims that her experience as the convener and director-general of the Aspiration Grassroots Mobilization Alliance (AGMA), a member of the National Women Campaign Council in 2023, and the director-general of PDP support organizations in 36 states has equipped her for the upcoming post.

She continued by saying that she is certain she can have a beneficial influence on the party because of her background and track record of holding a number of posts at the state and federal levels.
