The youth arm of the main Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, has criticized Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo for claiming that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s release will not eliminate insecurity in the South-East.
This comes as the organization urges Seyi Tinubu, President Bola Tinubu’s son, to persuade the number one citizen to honor the supposed commitment made to Nnamdi Kanu’s family.
Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, the National President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, told journalists that Soludo should be ignored.
Soludo told reporters late last year that even if Nnamdi Kanu is liberated today, he doubts they will listen to him because their current goal is wealth, not independence.
“They have turned against the people they purport to defend. “Who are they fighting for when they kidnap and murder their own people?” Kanu’s brother, Prince Emmanuel Kanu, stated that the family reached an arrangement with President Bola Tinubu to release the Biafra agitator.
He revealed that he made the arrangement with Tinubu’s son, Seyi, during the buildup to the 2023 presidential race, and that the president was aware of it.
Okwu has now urged the President to honor the agreement, which he believes will bring to long-term peace in the South-East.
According to him, “we find it odd that any Igbo guy, let alone a sitting governor, would stymie the urgent need for Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s release.
“Governor Soludo has long displayed a lack of capacity to combat insecurity in Anambra State, and he easily assigns blame to everyone but himself.
“This is why he found it so convenient to play down the role Nnamdi Kanu’s release will play towards stabilizing the South-East.”
