Five people were abducted and a doctor named Murtala Sale Dandashire was shot by bandits at Kankara General Hospital in Katsina State’s Ƙankara Local Government Area.
It was learned that on Tuesday night, January 14, 2025, the bandits broke into the hospital, shot Dr. Dandashire, and took the victims to an unidentified location.
Dr. Dandashire, an indigenous Kankara LGA, was widely praised for being the best graduating medical student at Ahmadu Bello University Zaria in 2019.
Bakatsine, a crisis and conflict journalist, confirmed the incident on Wednesday and stated that hospitals throughout Katsina State need to be more secure.
“Within the past three months, bandits have reportedly entered three hospitals: Kurfi General Hospital, Mai Tsani hospital in Dutsin-ma LGA and Kankara General Hospital,” he said.
