The NELFund has allocated N20bn to Students in Public Tertiary Institutions.

N20,075,050,006.55 has been approved by the Nigerian Education Loan Fund to be disbursed to 192,906 students enrolled in public postsecondary institutions across the country.

The payment was made as of January 1, 2025, according to a Monday update from NELFund that was published on X.

Akintunde Sawyerr, the managing director of the NELFund, stated in a December 2024 update that the fund had earlier claimed that the organization had distributed N110 billion to students nationwide.

With 11,683 students eligible to receive a total of N1.3 billion, Bayero University in Kano will gain the most from the most recent distribution. The University of Maiduguri, where 12,198 students will split N1.27 billion, comes next.

Similarly, N909m will assist 8,978 students at Federal University Dutsin-Ma, while N941m would help 6,988 students at the University of Jos.

4,907 students at the University of Ibadan would receive N746 million, while 5,451 students at Federal University Dutse will split N593 million.

N578 million will be given to 6,480 students at Usmanu Danfodiyo University in Sokoto, and N557 million would be given to 3,685 students at the University of Lagos.

Conversely, institutions with fewer beneficiaries include Abia State Polytechnic, where two students have been approved to receive N106,300, and Gombe State Polytechnic, Bajoga, where four students will receive N122,000; Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe, will distribute N214,116 to three students; and Kenule Benson Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic, Bori, will distribute N315,500 to seven students.

Three students at the Federal College of Education, Gidan Madi, will receive N330,000; eleven students from Federal Polytechnic Ukana, Akwa Ibom, will share N518,500; nine students from Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Imo State, will receive N368,400; and twelve students from Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education, Owerri, will receive N528,500.
