The Senate and the Federal Government’s team, led by Attorney General Lateef Fagbemi, met to discuss the four Tax Reform Bills sent by President Bola Tinubu to the National Assembly.

The meeting aimed to address the controversy surrounding the bills, which prompted President Tinubu to express his willingness for a review last year.

According to Senator Abba Moro, who chairs the Senate’s house committee on tax reforms, the meeting was fruitful, with significant progress made.

The tax reform bills have generated significant debate, with some lawmakers and stakeholders expressing concerns about their potential impact.

However, proponents of the bills argue that they will simplify the tax landscape, reduce the burden on small businesses, and promote economic growth.

The proposed bill faced stern opposition from some northern region authorities. With some calling President Tinubu names, as well as threatening to ensure he doesn’t get reelected .

In spite of the divergent views, Mr president has hinted he won’t back down on ensuring the bill comes to fruition
