On Monday, Eric Chelle was officially introduced as Nigeria’s Super Eagles’ new head coach. The ceremony was held at the media conference room of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) announced Chelle’s appointment last Tuesday, making him the Super Eagles’ 42nd substantive head coach.
The 47-year-old former Mali international has been tasked with resurrecting Nigeria’s stalled 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.
The Super Eagles are currently seventh in Group C, with three points from four matches, and have yet to win a qualification.
Eric Chelle is also likely to lead the home based Super Eagles during the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), which will be held in Ivory Coast.
