Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca admits he doesn’t want to lose Ben Chilwell and Carney Chukwuemeka.
Both players have been linked with moves away in January.
However, Maresca stated before of tomorrow’s match with Bournemouth: “We don’t need a player to go out. Simply because they wish to play more, they have the option to leave.” When asked about Chilwell’s performance on the training ground, he stated, “He has been outstanding.
Very professional. He works hard. I feel ashamed because of the scenario, but in terms of behavior, he has been excellent.” Maresca also explained why Chilwell did not play: “First and foremost, it was my decision.
The reason I stated probably is that I can picture Malo Gusto, Reece James, and Marc Cucrella doing different types of jobs during games. “I believe Chilwell is a superb full-back doing that position, Ben has been up and down, and he has had opportunities to win titles and play for the national team in the past, but I don’t see him doing anything different.”
